Inflatable structures connote fun and whimsy, and challenge our everyday, feet-on-the-ground perspective. BLOW UP explores the imaginative ways that artists use air as a tool for creating large-scale sculpture and includes imagery that is figurative, conceptual, and abstract. Accessible, yet rich with meaning, these pieces use perception of space and unexpected materials to open a dialogue about pop culture and social norms.

Exhibition Artists: Claire Ashley, Lee Boroson, Lewis deSoto, Patrick Flibotte, Billie G. Lynn, Guy Overfelt, Momoyo Torimitsu, Andy Warhol, in addition to video work by Christo & Jeanne-Claude and Joshua Allen Harris.

Participating Venues: Vision Gallery, Chandler; Huntsville Museum of Art, AL; Schneider Museum of Art, OR; Benton Museum of Art at UCONN; Elmhurst Art Museum, IL; Muskegon Museum of Art, MI; and the Loveland Museum, CO
